Function:

  • To implement the strategic goals and objectives of the organization
  • With the Public Policy and Professional Issues chair, enable the Board to fulfill its mission
  • To give direction and leadership toward the achievement of LPCANC's philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives
  • Serve as registered lobbyist for LPCAC

    Reports to:         LPCANC President and Executive Board  

    Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the official voice of LPCANC in advocacy, public policy and professional issues role
  • Ensure a credible and visible profile with stakeholders, association members and the media
  • Actively build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, as well as key leaders in government and other professional associations;
  • Network and lead public relations activities on behalf of LPCANC; become the “go-to” source for credible and reasoned opinions regarding the issues facing LPC’s in North Carolina;
    ·          other industry associations;
  • Facilitate a communication plan that informs all stakeholders of the activities and direction of the LPCANC;
  • Facilitate, direct, and implement specific organizational goals and outcomes, under the direction of the Board of directors;

    Major Functions

  • Board Administration and Support –
    a. Supports LPCANC mission and operations by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and association management staff

  • Legislative –
       a.  Oversee and monitor legislative and regulatory activities within the State of North Carolina and foresee potential impact on LPCANC and members;
       b.  Work to advocate for LPCANC and our members with governmental and regulatory agencies; insurance companies, professional associations and other stakeholders and interested parties.

  • Community and Public Relations –
       a.  Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders;
       b.  Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations;
       c.  Represent LPCANC and it’s mission to agencies, organizations, and the general public;
       d.  Communicates to inform Board and association membership on current and prospective public policy issues and goals, professional issues, trends, factors and issues that may impact the mission of LPCANC and its members; and all other relevant important factors influencing it.
       e.  Work with Board and association management to publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.

  • Membership – Works with Board and Association management to assist with member concerns and contact (as needed and time permitting)

    Relationships:

  • Serves as the Executive Director to LPCANC Boards of Directors
  • Works closely with LPCANC association management to ensure LPCANC mission, membership and public policy and professional issues goals are addressed and completed
  • Serves as the primary public policy and professional issues spokesperson for LPCANC with the Board, membership, governmental and regulatory agencies, professional colleagues and associations, the community, and with the media.

    Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required Masters degree preferred from an accredited college/university and 2 years of advocacy and public policy experience
  • Experience with legislative and regulatory agencies and processes
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory and rule-making processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and grant writing
  • Strong conflict resolution and decision making skills
  • Strong management and supervisory skills and experience
  • Demonstrates leadership ability in strategizing and coalition building

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The primary purpose of the Call Center Clinician is to assist individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse needs to access necessary and appropriate services.  The Clinician will:  1)  Assist individuals that call seeking services by providing telephonic screenings, clinical triage, collecting demographic information, providing choice among available providers and linking callers to appropriate clinical services,  2) Identify indicators for clinical consultation and decision-making,   3) Handle health information calls, gathering information and providing information about community resources to callers ,  4) Provide clinical triage and assistance for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.  5) This is a 24/7/365 day operated Call Center and hours of work may vary.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work and two years of supervised social work experience.  Licensed to practice as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) as required by North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.

    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) – Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Counseling and four years of supervised counseling experience.  Licensed to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as required by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.

    Preference will be given to individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse experience.
