Description:
Participants will learn an overview of expressive
arts theories including how to incorporate visual
journaling into sessions to assist clients in exploring
feelings/ideas/experiences. Variations incorporating
music and movement will be demonstrated. Participants
will also receive a list of resources to encourage
the use of the arts in practice
Presenters:
Maria Curran, PhD, LPC:
Maria is the president/director of the Center for
Creativity & Healing, PC, a private practice in
the South Park area. She works with children, adolescents
and adults utilizing play and expressive arts media
along with cognitive behavioral approaches. Elizabeth
Davant, MA, LPC, NCC: Elizabeth is a professional
counselor on staff at Queens University of Charlotte.
Along with being a Licensed Professional Counselor
in the state of North Carolina, she is also a certified
expressive arts therapist.
