Description:
This workshop will highlight the ACA codes of ethics
that are relevant to providing counseling in a rural
area and present an ethical decision making model.
Utilizing small group discussion, participants will
develop strategies to address the ACA code of ethics
application to case presentation/scenarios. Risk management
strategies for professional counselors by Burt Bertram
and Nancy Wheeler DVD (published by ACA Trust Inc.)
will be utilized in short segments. Examples of issues
addressed are: potential dual relationships - counseling
someone who you may see often and bartering vs. cash
payments. The goal of this workshop is for attendees
to examine the ACA ethical codes relevant to providing
counseling in a rural area. The objectives of the
course are: 1) Participants will review and examine
the ACA code of ethics that are relevant to providing
counseling in a rural area; 2) Participants will apply
an ethical decision making model and ACA code of ethics
to case scenarios; and 3) Participants will receive
instruction on risk management of ACA approved materials
relevant to providing counseling in a rural area.
